"FOUR ROSES" ( REDUX )
Freqent visitors to this page will no doubt remember our posting about the
[English language]"No Budget" movie, " Four Roses", written and directed by Kris De Meester and starring an ensemble cast including Shai Shahar [in a classic scene with Alex de Vrees]. You can see from this image taken from the movie website that it has been doing well! Four Roses has found DVD and theater distribution deals that will bring the film [and Shai] to America, the UK and beyond in 2010 and 2011. More info can be found by clicking the pic!
And here is the new Bavaria beer commercial for Dutch TV.." Druppel"
featuring Shai on some over-the-top vocals. Although primarily used as a Bioscoop [Movie Theater] advertisment with limited TV airing, this commercial, released in November' 09 still made the semi-finals of the national advertsing awards [Gouden Loekie], placing 11th on the list of 36 [more frequently broadcast] candidates. It is now being sold to other markets. "Zo"...Pour yourself a Bavaria..and enjoy!
Shai celebrates 10 years in Show Biz....!!!
This year marks the end of Shai's 1st decade in
" Showbizz ", which started with his home recordings and playback shows in Los Angeles
in late 2000-early 2001..which carried him to Vegas ..followed by SRO performances in the Benelux, & UK, even as far as Hungary, in two award-winning multi-media shows. In the Spring 0f 2003 Jazz Club Langs de Lijn [Bussum, NL] adopted him as one of their own, helping to promote his talents to other Dutch jazz clubs and musicians, which led to a gig recording and performing with the newly re-constituted [in Holland!] Jimmie Lunceford Legacy Orchestra. Then came his critically acclaimed solo appearances at Dance Valley, Lowlands and last year's Amersfoort Jazz Festival.
Most recently Shai has been recording vocals for nationally broadcast TV and radio commercials including the Staatsloterij jingle {" What A Wonderful Life!"}, Discovery Channel's " Winter In Holland" , and of course the Gouden Loekie semi-finalist " Druppel" for Bavaria Beer which is being aired in several EU markets.
Meanwhile Shai has poured his heart and soul into the new Burlesque revival currently underway in the big cities of Europe, earning a special place in the hearts of younger crowds who see him as a" genuine Old School" American crooner..a la' "Rat Pack"...Which is exactly what he set out to be 10 years ago.
We can only wonder where the next 10 years will take him. And wish him every success!
